Allons-y a Nice!
A creative journey on the French Riviera
Sunset and art on the French Riviera.
My friends at The Blue Walk and I are gathering a small group of women this summer for a week in Nice, France — a week devoted to creativity, exploration, and the simple joy of seeing the world with fresh eyes.
We’ll spend our days wandering the walkways of Vieux Nice, the city’s vibrant old town. Narrow cobblestone streets wind between pastel buildings, and small shops spill onto the sidewalks selling Niçoise soaps, Provençal textiles, cheeses, olives, and handmade treasures.
The daily market on Cours Saleya fills the air with color and scent — flowers, herbs, fresh produce — while cafés and outdoor bistros invite us to linger over lunch or an afternoon glass of wine.
There is something about the French Riviera that encourages you to slow down.
To notice.
To wander.
To savor.
And of course, we’ll bring our journals with us.
Throughout the week, we’ll explore nearby coastal villages — Menton, Antibes, Cannes, and other small towns along the Mediterranean — gathering small treasures along the way: bits of paper, vintage ephemera, café receipts, snippets of conversation, fragments of memory.
These become the building blocks of a vintage travel journal — a handmade artist book that tells the story of your journey.
I’ll share my process for creating these journals, the same process I use when traveling myself. We’ll talk about sourcing materials, collecting meaningful ephemera, and layering pages so that the finished book becomes something far more than a scrapbook.
It becomes a living memory of the journey.
A place where the small details of travel — the scent of herbs in the market, the color of a seaside door, the laughter shared over dinner — are captured and held.
The images below are pages from my own vintage travel journals from destinations such as Paris, Longboat Key, Mexico, and New Orleans. They offer a glimpse of the kinds of journals we’ll create together in Nice.
There are still a few spaces available for our French Riviera journey.
If the idea of spending a week wandering beautiful coastal villages, gathering inspiration, and creating a journal filled with the story of your travels calls to you, I would love to have you join us.
It promises to be a week of creativity, laughter, discovery — and perhaps a splash (or two) of French wine.
